Hey Steven,
On a different topic...
Del has been advised to use one piece of 3/4" keyed rod to extend the rear wheels.
The person doing the job is concerned about how to modify the rear-end, specifically how to do away with the small bevelled gears that are in the way. Any suggestions?
Should he go back to trying to extend the axles already there?
Thanks, Carolyn & Del Groundhog Tango

Carolyn and Del, I would advise not using fully keyed 3/4 rod, if you have a rod thats fully keyed down the whole shaft it will wear away at your transmission housing when your put it in the tranny. I advise getting a non keyed 3/4 shaft/rob/bar whatever you want to call it lol and getting it keyed in three specific places, one place for each tire keyway and one for where the bevelled gears would be, but there is a trick to this, and i cant really explain without having the tranny infront of me.... is it a transmission like the ones i run in my mod and stock mod? cuz if so this could be very easy to do, message me back plz, and let me know, and maybe we can arrange for you to bring the tranny to stirling so i can have a good look at it with dad and figure out if we can help you or not. Hi Steve: Could we bring the rear end to your place sometime at your convenience so you can see it? It is the one that came with the Craftsman (6 speed)
Also, could we use the keyed rod, put keys in where needed and grind them down for the transmission to leave the rod round? I could get a round rod but do not know where I could get key-races cut.
I am so clueless about this!
I cannot go to Stirling because of other obligations.
Thanks for the help!
Del.

carolyn/dell I have a 6-speed tranny that has been widened, it was welded which is not recomended but Ryan ran it for 2 seasons in junior & 3 races in modified & had no problems with it. It may get you started anyway, $50 if you are interested.

Dan: We are definitely interested. If we could set up a time and place, it would be good. I am hauling our tractor back from Phillipsville where the job was supposed to be done. The gentleman there is stumped on how to do it. Is the rear end adapted to solid two wheel drive as well?
