1. The more I read the modified (L-head) rules. The more confused I become. It says steel only 6 and 8 inch wheels in the top text, but then in the lower text as per super mods it says minmum 6 inch wheels aluminum or steel? Not sure which to go by? 2. As per the mod rules it states "shift-able trans or trans-axle and ALL gears must function,(reverse as well?) as well as b mounted in original O.E.M. position aside from removing spacer brackets. In the lower text as per super mods it states discreet chopping of frame to mount trans etc. If we are only allowed O.E.M. then no "chopping of frame" should b required? 3. Are ball ball and spherical tie rods recommended or mandatory? It says both. I just wanna b sure. I don't want to find out later that "I coulda did that" later. Thank you and i look fwd to your reply.

After reading the Modified build rules I see that the line in question shift-able trans or trans-axle and ALL gears must function should have been removed and now will be. As for original OEM position it means in the location it came from not forward of or rear of its mounting position. Now when it comes to modified the fame is built to super modified frame build rules. Are ball ball and spherical tie rods recommended or mandatory it says you can use either that is up to you. It is good that you ask the questions you do sometimes interpretting what is read and what is printed gets lost in translation LOL. We will correct it so it is easier read and understood. If you have more questions feel free to ask and we will do what we can to answer your query.
A side note to this is... This is why we ask members to attend our rules building meetings so that everyone looks through and points out things that either need changes made or re-wording.

Thank you for clearing that up Thunder. I will hopefully be printing off the re written rules tomorrow and continue my building accordingly. I am currently building 2 tractors one for stock and 1 for mod as I have another guy who wants to try racing with me. I raced a couple times with oltra in 06 and was discouraged a little with how the rules only applied to some and not others. I do not want to experience that again which is why I am asking all these questions. I will b attempting to make it to the meetings in the future, but haven't had the chance due to my son experiencing illness and the fact that that the racing bug only just bit me recently. LOL

JUst reviewing the changes now. A couple more questions. 1. A shiftable trans or trans axle means? 1. Ability to move from at least 1 fwd gear to another? 2. All fwd gears must work? 3. Was formerly shiftable but is now fused in 1 fwd gear only with no neutral or reverse 2. Transfer case is allowed to b moved up in the chassis oem position (therby lowering the tractor) by removing an amount of oem frame material? 3. Mandatory that the O.E.M Trannny b used? For example can I swap a single fwd speed plus reverse transaxle for what was originally a 5 spd plus reverse transaxle? 4. If I threw away the transaxle idea and went to a live axle from a 700 peerless, that changes my class to pro mod? Because that is not what originally came in the tractor? sorry to b a pain.

I dont understand what you need to know about the transaxle in Modified . The build goes under the super mod build rules with theses exceptions only ...... engine size, tires and rims that is basically the only difference. Whatever drive train you choose to use is up to you and its configuration. I know you dont want to make a mistake so you dont have to re-do anything. I hope this puts you in the right direction now lol
