When I pulled the factory pulley off I noticed they key size was different than the actual key. But they wasn't any play due to the bolt which went in the bottom. When I put the new 7 inch pulley on there is now play back and forth because the key size of the shaft is smaller than the new pulley. Has any one else ran into this issue ?

Hmmmm, never seen that before, but maybe someone else had it apart and monkeyed with it. Should be a 1/4" key. Hopefully the smaller key did not damage the key way on the crank.

Hmmm. Do you have a caliper to measure it?

I just measured it at work the key that goes in the crank is 5/32. Its a non I/C 11 hp Briggs. At this point my build is screwed unless I figure this out. I do have an I/C 11hp in my grass cutting mower would it be different?

It's the width of the key way I need to understand, not the depth. I'm getting a sense you might need a custom cut key or that your keywY is wore out. Can you get the components to me in Hastings for a look and maybe we can make a custom key on the milling macine.

I'm currently trying to get a key made. The width of the key is 5/32 it fits tight into the crank shaft. All my pulleys have a 1/4 keyway. What is normal for Briggs ? If my guy doesn't come through I'll let you know. I'll try and post pictures tonight.

Looks like I've solved the problem the I/C engine has a 1 inch shaft and 1/4 key way. I put the non I/C in my grass cutting mower
